Kowe\u00eft, officiellement connu sous le nom d'\u00c9tat du Kowe\u00eft, est situ\u00e9 en Asie occidentale \u00e0 la limite nord de l'Arabie orientale. Il borde l'Irak au nord, l'Arabie saoudite au sud et partage des fronti\u00e8res maritimes avec l'Iran. Avec une c\u00f4te d'environ 500 kilom\u00e8tres le long du golfe Persique, le Kowe\u00eft joue un r\u00f4le strat\u00e9gique r\u00e9gional.<\/p>

Pour travailler et r\u00e9sider au Kowe\u00eft, tous les \u00e9trangers doivent \u00eatre parrain\u00e9s par un employeur local dans le cadre du syst\u00e8me de parrainage (kafeel) du pays. Cependant, des discussions sont en cours pour r\u00e9former ce syst\u00e8me. En 2008, le d\u00e9put\u00e9 Abdullah Al-Roumi a propos\u00e9 une l\u00e9gislation pour abolir le syst\u00e8me de parrainage actuel en faveur d'un processus g\u00e9r\u00e9 par le gouvernement, visant \u00e0 am\u00e9liorer les droits des travailleurs et \u00e0 r\u00e9duire l'exploitation.<\/p>
